Now here is the amazing part…that Jason ran without someone chasing him, that we all had fun and that the boys actually want to do it again!
Caleb had been asking to run his first 5K for several months. He sees me run all the time and I think he wants to be able to do it as well. So back on Thanksgiving the boys and Jason did a one mile fun run. Caleb loved it and was hooked so we decided to let him try a 5k. The Ugly Sweater 5K was the absolute perfect race for him to try out…it isn't timed, they encouraged family participation, and we got super lucky with amazing weather! (It was almost hot!)
So Jason and I found some awful sweatshirts and we put the boys in their Hershey Candylane sweatshirts and headed down to the National Harbor.
Oh…I forgot to mention that we had some awesome mustaches to wear as well…this was encouraged! The boys did great - I would say they ran about 2/3rds of the race. Their competitive spirit came out when they saw that Santa was going to beat them to the finish line and that was all it took for them to take off!
Such a fun day for us!
The family just before the race!
View of National Harbor.
There were lots of big puffy fun animals during the race! Caleb wanted to make a crazy picture with the reindeer!
Yay! We finished!!!
Warming our hands by the fake fire scene! It was about 60 degrees when we were done!
